Welcome to El Olvidado, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Coyoacán, Ciudad de México. This charming bakery and café offers a delightful escape for those seeking an inviting atmosphere, whether it's for a fulfilling breakfast, a leisurely lunch, or a cozy coffee break. Located at Calle Pdte. Carranza 267, El Olvidado beckons you with its delicious offerings and friendly service.
As you step inside, the warm scents of freshly baked pastries embrace you. Customers rave about their signature Cinnamon Rolls and the intriguing mazapán rolls. One patron, Daniela Nuñez Zurita, describes her experience as 'delicious' while highlighting the nearby park, perfect for savoring your treats in the fresh air.
The café's atmosphere is cozy yet vibrant. Reviews note El Olvidado's sidewalk table service, allowing guests to enjoy their meals while basking in the scenic surroundings. Juan Carlos Zamora echoes this sentiment, deeming it an 'excellent' spot with tasty food and exceptional service. The attention to detail is clear—from the rich flavor of the latte to the acclaimed Eggs Benedict, praised by John Frost as the best he's had in Mexico.
In addition to traditional breakfast fare, El Olvidado caters to diverse dietary needs, offering gluten-free and vegetarian options. Customers like Sandunga appreciate the variety, although bear in mind that this charming nook may not be the ideal place for work sessions due to its bustling ambiance. Instead, it is primarily a sanctuary for enjoying food and conversation.
However, any cultural gem has its imperfections. A few patrons, including Fernand Scheu, mentioned a slight push for efficiency in service that might make some feel rushed. Yet, this does little to tarnish the overall appeal of the café.
If you're hunting for hearty dishes, the Irish stew and shepherd's pie come highly recommended, showcasing a nod to comforting classics from afar. The scrumptious bread, a staple of El Olvidado, enhances every bite, ensuring your meal lingers on your palate long after the last crumb is gone.
All in all, El Olvidado is not just a meal; it’s an experience. With its delectable food, inviting environment, and friendly vibes, it's a must-visit for locals and tourists alike. Whether you're savoring an indulgent pastry or enjoying a light bite surrounded by the beauty of Coyoacán, El Olvidado promises that you won’t forget your visit.
Delicious spot, great for breakfast, lunch or a coffee break. Very friendly staff, the little park across their shop is lovely too. You must try their cinnamon or "mazapán" rolls, you won't regret it
Cozy little bakery with table service on the sidewalk. Excellent service and tasty, good food. The Cinnamon Roll is to die for.
Great great great place for coffee , bread gluten free , veggie food, icecream and breakfast . Its cute but its a disconnect place so Is not a good "working with wifi" place. For reading and mustly eating.
Came here on recommendation from our airbnb host. The latte was rich in flavour much bigger than I expected. But what really stood out was the pastry and the croissant (with the huevos imperiales) - they were some of the best we have had!
As a Brit living in Mexico who loves Mexican food there are still times I crave something from back home. I visited El Olvidado yesterday for the first time and it will definitely not be my last visit. I had the Bacon Eggs Benedict, a Danish pastry and coffee. Great coffee, better pastry and the Eggs Benedict were the best I have had in Mexico. Many places promise traditional English food but El Olvidado is the first that delivered for me. Next on my list to try will be the Shepherds Pie and the English breakfast. Great job guys. I nearly forgot to mention the service which was excellent and the Parmesan bread which was quite a revelation.
The pastries and coffee were good. The issue was the service. They were a bit too efficient. On a quiet weekday morning, when half the tables were empty, they were watching us eat. The moment one of us took the last sip of our coffee, they rushed to our table to remove that cup, while we were still eating. Any moment any of us finished eating an item, the samehappened. That was very unpleasant for us. We felt rushed to leave and we did.
Love this place. Had Irish stew and shepherd pie for lunch. There bread is outstanding. They also had gunpowder Green tea. The service was very good
A nice small place, was pretty busy, but they suggested to sit in the park just across the road, which was even a better experience. The pastry (roll) was delicious.
